RACV launches online trip planner
While there are many online mapping sites available, their main focus is providing information on how to travel between two metro locations in the shortest possible time. The RACV next generation Trip Planning site turns this concept on its head, allowing members to design their own personalised driving holiday across Australia.
Using an interactive journey strip map, members can quickly and easily browse the different towns, attractions and accommodations along their nominated route. Once selected, this information can be saved against their profile to create a complete travel itinerary including, driving directions and detailed journey maps.

Using an interactive journey strip map, members can quickly and easily browse the different towns, attractions and accommodations along their nominated route. Once selected, this information can be saved against their profile to create a complete travel itinerary including, driving directions and detailed journey maps.
Key features of the RACV Trip Planner include;
- Generate personalised strip maps - members can create their own strip maps using destination points they nominate. This information can be saved against their personal profile and in the future shared with other members.
- Integrated accommodation and attraction data - members can search a comprehensive database of over 11,000 STAR™ rated accommodation properties and 7,000 attractions throughout Australia.
- Detailed street level maps & driving directions - members can route to specific street address locations in both rural and metro areas, including the ability to view address ranges on maps. Members can also enter multiple way points (ie stop off points) along their route and obtain detailed driving instructions between these.
- Print complete itinerary - once completed members can save and print their full itinerary as an integrated holiday plan.
- Promotion of published material - members will be automatically advised of relevant published maps & guide material and special offers that relate to their journey. Members are able to order this material or purchase special offers online.
